Why We Started Pathroot

Our founder, Carolyn Bradfield, lived what thousands of families face. Her daughter Laura began using at 15, and for years the family cycled through treatment, told to “wait until family day,” given little guidance, and unsure how to help. Laura often looked healthy at discharge, but without tools or clear boundaries, the family was sidelined.

Laura died at age 29 from her first and only overdose after a 15-year struggle.

Out of that loss came a conviction: families must be part of care. Carolyn later built and sold a program that pioneered virtual family support. Today, Pathroot brings that experience and modern technology together so no family is left in the dark and so treatment programs can deliver better outcomes with less lift.
